Divers Code Malta was the First PADI Freediving Center in Malta. The company was formed by passionate and professional Explorers, Scuba, Snorkelling and Freediving Instructors, with years of experience in many countries around the world.
We specialised in Snorkeling Safari and Freediving education in Malta, our shop stocked all the latest snorkelling and freediving equipment our guests needed from the major brands.
Freediving down a rope in the deep blue or Snorkeling trough the spectacular limestone’s coast. Holding our breath on a wreck surrounded by fish or exploring the many sea caves of Malta and Gozo. We loved the sea and the life beneath it and enjoyed the chance to Share this Passion with our guests and students.
Our activities were dedicated to the needs of Snorkelers, Freedivers, Explorers and Pirates of all ages that Want to Discover the beauty of these islands.

Andrea’s story
Andrea Filippozzi is an explorer, scuba and freediving instructor, and underwater photographer and videographer. His love of exploring has shaped a diving career that has taken him to Egypt, Mexico, Costa Rica, Sudan and Thailand, among other countries, before bringing those experiences to Divers Code in Malta.
In Mexico, Andrea worked as a cave-diving guide. In Sudan, he explored remote regions extensively, discovering a reef that still bears his name: Andrew Reef.
In Thailand, he discovered a cave at Koh Bon, even though it is one of the country's busiest diving destinations. From remote reefs to familiar dive sites, the possibility of finding something new has always drawn him back underwater.
That curiosity became part of Divers Code: exploring Malta and Gozo's coastline, caves and underwater landscapes, and sharing a love of the sea with guests and students through snorkelling and freediving.
Photography and film are another part of that story. Andrea's photographs have been published internationally in magazines and newspapers. Through collaborations with world-record freedivers, his videos have also featured on Trans World Sport and RTL Germany.
He also brought more than ten years of underwater-photography teaching experience to Divers Code's workshops, helping snorkellers and freedivers understand underwater light, colour and how to make the most of compact and action cameras.

Since 2023, Andrea has been a visiting lecturer within the Bachelor of Science in Diving Safety Management programme run by the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) in Malta.
B.E.A. — Safety at sea
Industrial partner through Divers Code
B.E.A. (Buoy Eau Air) was a research collaboration between Divers Code Malta and the University of Malta’s Institute of Aerospace Technologies. The project investigated a coordinated system of vehicles operating in the air, on the surface and underwater to help monitor divers and warn them about hazards.
Andrea’s responsibilities as the industrial partner included developing diver requirements and testing procedures, managing the remotely operated vehicle (ROV), and testing the prototype.
He also co-authored the 2023 paper BEA: Overview of a multi-unmanned vehicle system for diver assistance.

A new chapter
