TRAIL RUNNING TOURS

If you like trail running like us you will love the maltese islands,  Gozo for example hosts yearly a wonderful and quite unique Ultra-trail race.  Here you can find backcountry roads for easy of-track runs and amazing coastal single trails if you are lloking for a more satisfing challenges.

The south-west coast of Malta is famous for its glorious cliffs, shores, sunrises and sunsets. The area is also known as Majjistral National Park and this is a great setting for your trail running tours and experiences.

You can enjoy and test your self on engaging surface, running on a very interesting mix of dusty-stone-rocky ground while you face the magnetic colors of the Mediterranean sea.

The standard route is about 10 kilometres long, to be completed in approximately 90 minutes. We do the run at your favourite pace, no hurry or rush.

Going Easy: According to your requests, the activity could also be a mixed-experience where we alternate easy runs with satisfying hiking moments.

More Challenge: If you are looking for something more this route can easily become a 15-18km challenging experience

SEASONALITY

The best time for running in Malta is between October and April when the temperatures are fresher and the island is green.

The summer heat in Malta can be really strong and we do not recommend hiking.

During these months we are able to organize short tours in the early morning only for groups.

Nachdem wir einen Tag zuvor angerufen haben, wurde die Tour absolut inividuel für uns angepasst am folgenden Tag durchgeführt.
    Das Tolle daran war, dass die Gruppen (max 6 Personen) sehr klein sind und der Guide sich wirklich persönlich um jeden einzelnen kümmern kann.
    Für die Einführung ins Schnorcheln ließ er sich genügend Zeit, um auch Beginnern ein gutes Gefühl für den Start zu geben.
    Nachdem wir eine Tour gemeinsam festgelegt haben, hat uns der Guide nicht nur zu sehr entlegenen Stellen gebracht - wir haben nebenbei auch noch eine kleine touristische Führung durch Malta bekommen. Das hat wirklich Spaß gemacht.
    Neben dem Schnorcheln an wirklich tollen Orten blieb immer genügend Zeit für Pausen und zum Verschnaufen. Eine Tour, die wir hier jederzeit wieder mit Freude buchen würden.
    Auch die Abholung und der Rücktransport direkt vors Hotel funktionierte absolut perfekt.

Pepo is an experienced ultra runner who had a well thought out run plan for us. We ran around the outer walls of the city, at sea level (something I never would have figured out how to do on my own) before running through the city. After the run was over, I not only got in a good workout, but I felt like I understood the city and made a new friend. The next day, Pepo checked in on me to see if there was anything he could do to help. That was much appreciated. I highly recommend this experience to any runners visiting Malta. -read less

Dazu gab es noch eine Einführung ins Thema Schnorcheln. Wir hatten die kleine Schnorchel Safari gebucht, indem ein Landausflug und das Schnorcheln enthalten war.     Это не первый мой эксперимент с пробежкой - и один из самых интересных.
    Если вы только начинаете бегать или бегаете давно и много, все равно это интересный опыт.
    Рекомендую выбирать Pepo!
    Very beautiful places, the route is unique! It was impossible to find and run by yourself. For a good run, beautiful views, there was a good story about places, events, and the history of Malta.
    This is not my first run experiment - and one of the most interesting.
    If you are just starting to run or running for a long time and a lot, it’s still an interesting experience.

    He offered other tips for Malta as well, but unfortunately this was already my last day.
    I regret not having booked Pepo before since he would have given me good advice in particular for running on that island (not to easy, since it i hilly, hot and there is quite some traffic^^). We had a very good time and ran through the city together. You can decide how much you want to run and how much you want to talk. Pepo is a ultra runner with heart and soul and it was a pleasure to chat with him.
    It is definitely worth it getting up that early since after 8-9am it is already quite hot (even in September) and crowded. I definitely recommend booking that experience!

I was able to see the city in an entirely different way that I wouldn't have on my own or on a typical tour. And he has a wealth of knowledge about Malta's history, shared info about the culture, and made some excellent recommendations for the rest of our stay.
    I was slighly apprehensive about going on this run alone in a strange place with an unknown person, but any concerns were immediately gone - I always felt safe and highly recommend to all visitors to Valletta!     -read less

I was the only person who had signed up (perhaps because it was the low season for tourism), so I had plenty of opportunity to ask questions. I had just arrived in Valletta the evening before and I needed to get a run in, so I went on Pepo’s tour to get both done at once. Pepo’s a great guide—he knows a lot about Valletta’s and Malta’s history and he also gives great restaurant recommendations! He’s a warm and outgoing host—we had a fun time. The route takes you out along the perimeter of Valletta—some spots I definitely wouldn’t have figured out myself and with some great views. I recommend signing up! -read less

Då rekommenderar jag verkligen det här. Jag har varit med om så många mer oseriösa företag särskilt i Asien som bara ger ut snorkel-och dykarutrustning och kastar ut en på öppet hav. Det här var något helt annat och jag kände mig så trygg.
    En privat snorkeltur med bara guide och vår familj med två barn på 8 och 12 år. Instruktören Pepo hämtade oss vid hotellet och tog oss till sin shop där vi fick en genomgång och fick prova ut passande utrustning. Det var lärorikt och kändes seriöst. Sen åkte vi runt till några olika platser på gammaldagsa småvägar för att välja snorkelställe. Instruktören valde bort ett med för höga vågor vilket gjorde mig trygg.
    Väl på plats hade vår instruktör med sig en slags flytkudde att hålla i från början och en flytleksak till min 8-åriga son som aldrig tidigare snorklat. Sedan gav vi oss iväg på en fantastisk tur under vattnet och såg många olika fiskar. Instruktören var lugn och kunnig och det gick mycket bra. Han tog också bilder som vi ska få på mail vilket uppskattas.     -read less

I messaged pepo to ask if he could do a day that wasn’t on his availability and he messaged me back straight away saying he has changed the dates on the calendar and that he would be able to do it. He explained about the history of the places that we walked through. He was always making sure that I was within eyes view of him. Thoroughly enjoyed the trek despite the rain and hail. Pepo is very knowledgeable about Malta and guided me through some places I could never find by myself. During the run we could talk a lot about the historical facts and the actual facts of Malta, he made few curious and informative stops in some strategic and very beautiful parts of the circuit. Pepo also gave me very interesting tips about what do and what do not do in Malta. As a bonus I got a ride home with him, listening to a fantastic Rock and Roll soundtrack!!!
    I strongly recommend this experience for all runners that are visiting Malta.
